UPVC Replacement Door Handles

The handles on your doors get worn out over time and will need to be replaced. When doing this it is crucial that the new handles are in line with the critical dimensions of the handle that was previously used.

The top screw's location as well as the lever and keyhole size are the three measurements you have to determine. Check the size guide for help with this.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever/lever handle is a modern door handle designed to suit new or replacement doors. This style door handle is offered in a variety of designs and finishes. This handle is offered by several manufacturers, including Avocet ERA Fullex Hoppe Mila Millenco Yale.

Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle

The door handles made of uPVC/Composite are made of robust materials and are perfect for multi-point lock doors that require a heavy duty design. The handles are inline and operate from the same spindle and screw fixings so they are easily installed on new or existing uPVC/Composite doors.

The design of the sprung lever allows the handle to be set and angled to ensure a comfortable experience and is suitable for all users. The handle has been tested to 200,000 cycles.  door handle repairs barnsley  ensures that the finish is of high quality and performance is maintained over time. The sprung lever can be shortened to fit the widest range of locks. This is particularly useful in doors with smaller door frames where the cylinder is further back. A shorter lever can be used on doors with latches that can be opened by the thumb located on the inside.

Lever Pad

The lever pad upvc handle is distinct from the lever handles that are commonly found on doors. These handle types can either operate from a single spindle (inline) or independently from each side by using two inline or offset spindles (pad). They are commonly employed on UPVC doors with double glazing. They are available in a variety of finishes and variations.

The handles are available in a variety of finishes including White Chrome, and Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and is resistant to rust. This provides the handle with a high performance and durability for its intended purpose.

All of the UPVC lever pad styles for handles come with the spindle and screws, allowing them to be put on a new or existing uPVC door. The backplate fixation centres of 211mm allow for a bigger handle, which is often a benefit when replacing an old or damaged multi-point door lock mechanism. These handle levers have springs, which eliminate the issue of door handles that sag out of their horizontal position when not being used.

When choosing a replacement UPVC handle and spindle, it is important to match the dimensions of the PZ of both the multipoint lock and the uPVC door. This measurement may also be called 'handle centres or cylinder centre'. It is important for matching the correct handles.

Once you have the proper PZ size, you'll need to ensure that the handle lever pads and push pads are in a suitable shape for the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compatible handles you require for your doors. They are usually a square or round design with an internal lever and external push pad.

The majority of the UPVC Lever Pads we offer are spring-loaded. This means they will return to a horizontal position when they are not in use instead of hanging, and possibly securing to the frame. This prevents draughts from entering the home. It is also the case that the majority of the UPVC lever pad handles are hand-operated which allows you to place them on either side of the door.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are commonly used on uPVC doors, but can also be found on other types of door. The cylinder lock is operated by a key which unlocks the cylinder case. The case is then able to reveal pins that can be aligned with those inside the lock and allow them to turn the revolving camera, opening the door. Euro cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins. Internal and external doors require different levels of security.

Selecting the right cylinder for your needs is essential; it is dependent on the way your doors and handle are used. For instance, exterior doors require a more secure cylinder whilst internal doors can be secured with a standard cylinder. Additionally, certain cylinders are available with extra features that can improve security even more, like anti-drill and anti-bump characteristics.

To make sure that the euro cylinder is the right size for your door, it should be measured accurately. The cylinder should be measured from the hole for fixing screws in the middle to the other end of the cylinder, including the thumb turn if you have one. It is recommended to do this with the lock in place however when this isn't possible, you can remove it to measure. A cylinder that protrudes beyond the handle and escutcheon might be vulnerable to attacks such as snapping locks, therefore it is important that it's not too long.

The majority of modern cylinders have been made with anti-drill and bump resistance features included in their design. These features are designed to minimize the chance of a attack by forcing the cylinder to rotate in an opposite direction. This can help deflect the attack and protect your doors.

There are also cylinders constructed to withstand snapping. This is a growing method of attack on cylinders where the break line in the lock is attacked with a special tool to break off the front of the cylinder to allow the door to open. This is a lot faster and easier to achieve than gaining access through multipoint locks. It also leaves no evidence of a burglary, which can impede the insurance claim.

Spring Cassette

This spring cassette is found within the base plate of your door handle. It is a spring-loaded solution to return your multipoint lock handles back to their normal position after using. There was a time when handles did not have a spring built into them and without this they can droop or 'drop' once the locking mechanism has been disengaged. This component is the best solution to fix this problem. It also stops your door from becoming stuck in either the open or closed position as they are difficult to close manually.

The spring cassettes were made to be used with sprung multipoint locks. They will not fit unsprung handles, and you will have to cut a hole in your backplate for them to fit. (Please check the image for a technical diagram). These cassettes can be used as a replacement to damaged or missing cassettes on the backplate of uPVC door handles. They are supplied in one unit. They come with a square cut out that accommodates an 8mm shaft.

These spring cassettes are an excellent value solution to the issue of door handles that are sagging. They are simple to install and will prolong the life span of your uPVC doors.
